Olga was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend of the community, and filled her 97 healthy birthdays with love, caring, faith and family. She was a kind and gentle person, and a role model to her loved-ones.
She is now forever reunited with her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Steve (2001). Devoted mother of Len (Joanie), Dennis (Patti) and Larry (Sean). Adored Grandma/Bobcha to Kristen (Matt), Hailey (Daniel), Lauren (Giancarmine), Olivia (Mark) and Simon (Svitlana), and cherished great grandmother to Ireland, Stefano, Julian and Jazzlyn. They are her greatest legacy.
Olga is survived by her dear sister Sophie Pidsadny (Jim, 2011) as well as dozens of nieces, nephews and so many others who were touched by her loving acts of thoughtfulness and generosity.
Olga was a daughter of the Prairies, born in Manitoba on April 2, 1927 - the 6th of 8 children. Growing up in the Depression, she learned from her parents how love, caring and kindness could enrich others’ lives. It was a lesson she practiced for the rest of her life.
Everyone was welcome in her home and around her table. She was known for her delicious meals and warm hospitality at the many gatherings she hosted. In her retirement, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them all of her culinary secrets and traditions from her roots.
Olga was an active member of her church community for over 70 years, and devoted countless hours to volunteering. She was also a founding member of the Catholic Women's League at Holy Spirit Church.
A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at St. Elizabeth’s and Idlewyld Manor for the exceptional care and compassion given to her. A special mention of gratitude to her wonderful family doctor – Dr. Janice Koole. She went above and beyond in helping our mother during her last years of life. All these amazing people have demonstrated the kind of care a family could only wish for their loved ones.
We are going to miss you with all our hearts, mom, but your legacy of love and caring will live on in all of us you leave behind.
