Nicola Pontillo

Beloved husband of Antonietta (née Sanzo) for 56 years. Loving father of Lorenzo (Lise Rivard), Giuseppe (Brunella Porco) and Mario (Rosa Susi). Cherished Nonno of Nicholas, Gianluca, Christian, Giulia, Alessia, Philip, Sabrina and Bisnonno of Octavia. Dear brother of Maria and the late Angelo Arcari. Predeceased by his parents Lorenzo and Maria Vignone and in-laws Giuseppe Sanzo and Maria Iafrancesco. He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.

Nicola came to Canada in search of opportunity and a brighter future for his family. He worked tirelessly at Stelco for 40 years. He was known for his warmth, humour, and generosity. Nicola was a devoted husband and an unwavering pillar of strength to his cherished wife and family.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of General Hospital especially the I.C.U nurses who cared for Nicola.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 3-9 p.m. Prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate Nicola’s life will be held at St. Eugene’s Church, 232 Queenston Road, Hamilton, on Monday, November 25 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Hamilton General Hospital.

Nicola’s love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family will be forever missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
