Merle immigrated from Barbados to Canada in 1960 and worked tirelessly and proudly at the Hamilton General Hospital as an RNA for many years. Predeceased by her parents, Richard and Millicent; brothers Richard, Clairmonte and sister Lyris (Clyde); sisters in law Norma and Mildred. Loving sister to Selwyn and Dunstan (Pearl); beloved aunt of Rosita, Selwyn, jr, Jerome, Dwayne, Philip, Tyrone (US), Natalie, Yvette, Warwick and Lynette of Barbados. Great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Merle was an impeccable fashionista with an infectious smile. She was an avid member of the Church of Ascension, Hamilton where she served as a greeter and a member of the pastoral care team. She will be sadly missed by the extended family and many friends in Barbados, Canada and the US. The family sends heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Carlisle Retirement Home where she spent her last 5 months, the medical staff at the Hamilton General and at St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit. Her family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Monday, December 13th from 5-7pm. Celebration of her life will take place at The Church of the Ascension, 64 Forest Ave., on Tuesday, December 14th at 11am. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Please call the funeral home to RSVP for the funeral service. Proof of full vaccination, along with government issued ID, are mandatory to attend indoor funeral services for those age 12 and older.
