Mary Ann McSweeney

October 20, 1951 – April 23, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mary, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Juravinski Hospital.

It brings us much comfort knowing that she is joyfully reunited with her precious son Shane McSweeney and granddaughter Grace Lindsay McSweeney.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Fred McSweeney and her son Chad McSweeney. Mary will always be remembered by her sisters Daisy Crowe (late Lawson) and Evelyn Napholc (Bob) as well as by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Mary was born in Hamilton, ON to her parents the late Dorothy and Bill Lapping. She had a wonderful career as a Personal Support Caregiver with Reigel Support for Community Living where she spent 48 years caring for those in need. Mary was truly a selfless woman, always putting others before herself and graciously giving what she could, to ensure others never went without. She was the matriarch of our family and will forever be missed.

Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation being held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street E., Hamilton. Cremation to follow and a private family interment will be held at a later date. In memory of Mary, donations to Community Living Hamilton would be appreciated by her family.
