It is with broken hearts that in her 89th year, on August 1, 2023 our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her son David (Roberta) and daughter Margie (late Tom Dyment). Also missing her dearly are her grandchildren Clifton (Tatyana and first great granddaughter Elyana), Quinleigh (Rueben De Vries), Micah (Sara Nadeau), Chloe, Eleanor, late Zoë, Georgie, and Tavian. Also left to mourn are Terry (Brenda) Crawford, Jason (Alanna), and Jennifer.
Elizabeth was the youngest daughter of Lincoln Johnston (d. 1975) and Myrtle Isaac (d. 1986). Predeceased by her sister Una van den Bosch (d. 2021), her brothers Arnot Johnston (d. 1999) and Clifton Johnston (d. 1949).
Elizabeth was fortunate to have been married to two wonderful men: Ross Bond (d. 1997) and then to Norman Crawford (d. 2015).
After her graduation, Elizabeth taught at South Lincoln District Highschool in Smithville and then at Ancaster High and Vocational School. In 1962, Ross and Elizabeth built their home in Ancaster where she raised her children and continued to live until May 2023.
Elizabeth was a very talented seamstress and crafter. Later, she took up painting and created many beautiful pictures with watercolours or oils. These paintings continue to be admired and evoke fond memories of our mother and grandmother.
Elizabeth loved to travel and became quite the world traveler and visited many many countries.
