It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Martha on December 20, 2019, in her 91st year. Born September 10, 1929 in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. Martha was predeceased by her loving husband Tom and sister Lucy. Sister of Denny (Cecilia). She will be lovingly missed by her children Sande, Tom (Doris), Cathie and Lori, grandchildren Emily, Nina, Joe, Roxanne, Sam (Katelyn), Zachary (Missy) and John, and great-grandson Luke. Martha will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by many extended family members and friends.
Martha was a woman who loved fiercely. She wanted to be the one to give you the gift that you wanted the most, at Christmas or birthdays. She had a sharp wit, and a cheeky sparkle. She was spry into her 90’s, funny, kind and a loyal friend.
Martha grew up steeped in Metis culture, but without knowing the truth of her heritage. Today her children and grandchildren are grateful for her openness to allow us all to proudly discover our Metis heritage together. Dear Mom/Grandma, you taught us all to love each other well.
Her family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Thursday, December 26th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish, 19 Viewpoint Ave, Hamilton on Friday, December 27th at 10 a.m. with interment following in Resurrection Cemetery in Ancaster. The family have designated Mission Services of Hamilton for memorial contributions.
