Martha Buchner

Loving wife, mother, oma/grandma, great-grandma and friend, Martha de Jong Buchner passed peacefully at home in Hamilton, Ontario on Monday, October 10, 2022 at the age of 87. Born January 20, 1935 in Gouda, the Netherlands, she immigrated to Canada in 1958, with her young family. Through no small effort, she learned to speak English and embraced Canada as her home, becoming a proud Dutch-Canadian.

An avid gardener, a faithful Christian, a lover of long drives and a good dry joke. She leaves behind her five children Bert (Julie), John, Leona, Ron, and Clarence (Michelle), 16 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, friends, and several beautiful orchids. She is predeceased by her husband, Leendert “Len”, her daughter Marina Rose, grandson Lucas, and great-granddaughter Rhielle Mary. She will be dearly missed. Her family will receive friends at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St. E., Hamilton, on Friday, October 14th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home.
