Having relished her 90 years raising a family, enjoying life and generously sharing her love. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Bill. Treasured mother to Tom (June), Catherine (Angela) & Margaret. Proud Gramma to Billy and Robert (Breanna). Very special “Annie” to great-grandson Oliver and lovingly remembered by Ollie’s mom Brandi. She will be forever cherished by her sister Shirley and many nieces and nephews and fondly by Becky, Dave, Sarah & David Bakker.
During Joan’s career as a baker she provided warm treats and warm smiles. Her years at Mohawk College’s Fennell and Chedoke campuses included happy times with coworkers, staff and students alike. Joan’s retirement years were filled, in no particular order, spending special times with family & friends at the cottage, winning at the casinos and hanging out with the “FF’s”, her group of friends from coaching days in the Hamilton Ringette Association.
Joan believed one should never lose a chance to reach out with a kind word. Living by example, her actions and concern for the well-being of others will provide a lasting legacy to those she touched with her thoughtfulness.
The Jones family would like to recognize the staff at West Haldimand General Hospital for their extraordinary care and compassion. A special thank you to the nursing staff on the 3rd floor, your thoughtfulness will always been remembered.
To honour Joan’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice which offers comprehensive hospice palliative care support. Donations will augment their goal to build a Centre for hospice palliative care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
