PETSCHE, Lorraine Peacefully, and surrounded by the love of her family, Lorraine passed on to eternal life on November 20, 2016 at the age of 79 years. Dear wife of John for 58 years. Cherished and devoted mother of Cecile (Philip) Thomson, Lisa (Hugh Wardrope), Denise Stark and Michele (Robert Geenen). Devoted Nanny of Sarah (Nathan Smith), Alex, Sean, Jeff (Bradie), Justin (predeceased), Jennifer, Eric, Kevin, Alison, Ethan, Amy and Carrie. Great Nanny of Taylor and Weston. Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Alice Ralston and brother Francis (Edythe). She will be dearly missed by her extended family and many friends. Lorraine was a long time member of St. John the Baptist Church, where she was involved in various ministries, including children's liturgy, Eucharistic ministry, RCIA and Marriage Preparation. She was also an Associate of the School Sisters of Notre Dame. Her earliest vocation was teaching elementary school. After starting her family, she found alternate ways of teaching children and adults in various volunteer capacities. Lorraine freely gave of her time and talents in other ways as well, but her family was always her first priority. Special thanks to Dr. Engels and the staff of the Hamilton General Hospital 6 South, Neuroscience Ambulatory Centre staff, especially Duodopa nurse Kris, the Carlisle Retirement Home and CCAC workers, especially Elmer and Marilyn, for all of the wonderful care and support. Visitation at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME , 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hamilton on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine's memory can be made to the Parkinson Society Canada, Canadian Hemochromatosis Society, Wounded Warriors or Soldier On Fund.
