Mom was always a very upbeat person.  She loved to play with her grandchildren when they would visit.  She loved sharing time and conversation with those same grandchildren when they were grown up and brought boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands and wives into the fold. Mom and Dad also loved animals and had a beagle named Patches when the children were young and they lived on Shadyside.
Patches kept Mom hopping.  One Sunday dinner we were sitting in the living room when we heard a thump from the kitchen.  We ran in quickly and we found Patches totally enjoying the cooked turkey she was able to pull off the counter.  Another time Patches had a feast of hamburg patties that landed on the grass when the charcoal barbeque got knocked over.  But never fear Mom just cleaned up and moved on to plan B, hot dogs or take out.
 Mom was also a great cook! One of the highlights of the McLeod family was Friday nights when Mom created her home made pizzas using Auntie Nellie's recipe.  Also everyone loved her spaghetti and meatballs again using Auntie Nellie's recipe with a few Mom (Lorraine) adjustments. 
 In later years Mom and Dad moved to Nanny and Papa's house on Barons Ave and added Dusty, a fluffy little Pekingese dog to their family.   Dusty again kept them hopping and refilling the doggy treat jar by the fireplace since every time the grandkids arrived they each had to give Dusty a treat. 
Mom always made everyone feel welcome when you went to visit and had a cup of tea and cookies ready in no time. 
Mom was definitely a green thumb gardener.  Her gardens on Barons Ave were full of colourful flowers and bushes and everything was so neat and beautifully arranged.  Her garden was really a work of heART ! 
Mom enjoyed all of her families' pet dogs and cats when she went to their houses for a visit and she enjoyed the pets visiting her especially  when Christie brought her dog or when David and June would bring their little dog up to Extendicare to visit her.  
Mom was always delighted to see the younger generation of great grandchildren.  She made each one of them feel special.  They always liked to visit Great Grandma McLeod and go out for an ice cream sundae, go for a swing at the park, go for a walk or just sit and talk.
Mom and Dad always had music playing and enjoyed going dancing, having singsongs and get-togethers.
In later years at Extendicare Mom continued her love of music and would always be up dancing to the songs played at the weekly entertainment sessions.  She had a very good sense of rhythm.  She liked listening to CKOC and singing to the oldies and finger dancing along with the music.
On many of our visits Mom and I would end up singing some of the old songs.  Mom usually knew more of the words than I did.  She was very resourceful, making up words we both couldn't remember or du, du, du, du..ing as a fill in.  More than anything we would laugh about it and start a new song.  One song she seemed to always remember most of the words to was “Danny Boy.”
Mom's happy disposition, her sense of humour, her kindness, her love for her family and her love of music are just a few of the special things that we will all miss but these things are some of the special things that will always remind us of Mom.
Like the songs say,

Mom, From the first day i met you i was welcomed into your home and then your family as your son in law. For almost 40 years i had the honor of having 2 moms.  From the family get togethers and the turkey dinners over the holidays you were the glue that kept the family a family. Then you got a new family at Extendicare and they all loved you. The dancing, the singing, the compliments, the sayings like Hi Honey, the i love you honey, the finger dancing, the company that you gave when i was delivering. You were truly one of a kind and i will miss you dearly. The only thing that is comforting in this is that you are united forever with  the love of your life. Good Bye Sweet Lorraine

The one story I meant to tell was when Danny & Shelley were visiting Mom/Grandma.We left Mom after our visit and we were on our way Home.Danny and Shelley were visiting after we left.Our cell phone rang while we were on the highway and it was Shelley. The elevator with Danny, Shelley, and Grandma stopped between floors on a Sunday. I can remember Shelley saying its not all Bad we have entertainment with Mom Singing in the background. It is amazing how quick 3 hours passes with positive people and good entertainment. That was Mom and Her Family

Grandma McLeod melted my heart from the day I met her, she welcomed Mikayla and myself into the McLeod family with open arms and Dad's oatmeal cookies. It was impossible to not smile around her, or not have a giggle with her. We looked forward to every visit with her, and we'll miss her and cherish our memories and photos of her. We'll miss her signature wave and "bye Hunny" as we left each time. She will be missed.

I will always remember your Mother as a ray of sunshine in my life. She was a very kind and gentle person. I hope she has found peace with Uncle Dan. I will honour her memory, but mourn her loss.

I shall always remember the good times that Lorraine and Dan brought in to my childhood.  Christmas presents, trips to Crystal beach, visits to the cottage etc, etc.  Lorraine's passing has touched me deeply.
