Passed away peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital on March 18th in her 66th year. Predeceased by her husband Kirk, and her father Stanley. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Julia, and her mother Joyce. Loving aunt to Michael and Ryan. She is survived by her brother Wilson Dick.
Julie enjoyed her career as a librarian at various libraries around the GTA and at Norfolk County Public Library in Simcoe, Ontario. Julie loved promoting Young Adult literature—vampire stories in particular—as well as befriending the teenagers who would visit the library.
Julie had a wicked sense of humour, a love of literature, an adoration of classic films, and a big, warm heart. Julie always had open arms for those who felt lost in the world and a wise word to say to keep them filled with hope. Julie was also an animal lover and cherished the dogs and cats she had over the years.
Most of all, she loved her daughter Julia with all of her heart and soul. Being a mother to Julia was the thing she was most proud of.
Julia would like to thank the PSWs who took care of her mother at home over the years as well as the staff at Juravinski Hospital and St. Peter’s Hospital. Above all, a thank you goes out to Donna Dawson, a friend who went above and beyond to take care of Julie.
Julie has been laid to rest with Kirk at the Oakwood Cemetery in Simcoe.
Donations in Julie’s memory may be made to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation or to your own local public library.
