Whether you called out to him as Jovo, Kum Jovo, Jojo or just Joe, you can bet you would be greeted with a smile that would warm your heart. Jovo was a kind-hearted and generous gentleman who would be there to lend a helping hand whenever he was asked. Born in Bogutovo Selo, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Jovo immigrated to Canada and worked hard for many years at Ford Motor Company in Oakville where he developed many lasting friendships. In retirement he spent time visiting with friends over coffee at Eastgate Square – or, as he used to call it, Eastgate Squirrely. Although he was a quiet man, he enjoyed being around people and sharing in fellowship. He had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to joke around and laugh. Jovo enjoyed watching sports, with tennis being one of his favourites. Heaven has gained the biggest Djokovic fan there ever was! No matter the hour, Jovo would be tuned in to his matches. Now, we know that Jovo will be able to watch him in all of his upcoming matches from the best seat in the house! Jovo also loved watching hockey and was a huge fan of the Detroit Red Wings, even though he would joke with friends about getting seats in Toronto for the parade when Leaf fans would optimistically lay claim to the Stanely Cup in early November. Jovo was a friend to animals as well, and they sensed that and went to him for some affection and attention. We know that Skippy and Niko were amongst the first to greet him when he left us. Jovo will be greatly missed by Vinko, Mira, Susan, Vesna, Vinka and their families, as well as many other friends that he touched in his time with us. Thank you Jovo, for being a part of our lives and our family – you will always be in our hearts and in our memories.
