Joan was born in Vancouver, BC and at two years of age moved to Hamilton, ON where she remained for the rest of her life. Beloved wife of 62 years to the late John Norman McDonagh, predeceased by her parents; Mother Lucille and Father Robert 'Bobby' Eber, who was a Canadian Bantam Weight Boxing Champion, inducted into the Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame in 1989 and brothers Robert 'Bud' Eber and Jack (Marilyn) Eber. Lifelong friend of the late Edward "Ted" Carey (Velda). Dear Mother to Allen (Fay) (predeceased), John (Patsy), Elaine, Kerry (Linda), Louise (Yvon), Johnny (Sally), Lynn, Susan (Edward). Loving Aunt to Nancy (Kerry) and Kathy. Joan will be sadly missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her Monday coffee group and lunch buddies.
The whole family would like to give special thanks to our dear sisters Louise, Susan and son in-law Ed for their daily, loving care that allowed Joan to remain in her home that she loved until the end. A special heartfelt thank-you to Christine, Dori, Yvon and Pat for their prayers and unwavering support. Thank you to Dr. M. Canning, her assistant Angela, as well as all the nurses, especially Judy and the PSW's Sherry and Lulu for the excellent care given to our mother. Joan was a kind, loving, gentle and positive soul who was loved by all that knew her. The family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life and not the sadness of her passing.
