Joan Brewer

BREWER, Joan July 14, 1923 - December 28, 2013 Sergeant in the ATS during WWII It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the death of Joan Brewer at St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday, December 28, 2013 from complications of Lymphoma and C Difficile. She passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and in the arms of her daughters. Predeceased by husband Denis Brewer (1984), loving Mum to Janet Poole, the late Clive Brewer (2000) and Denise Brewer Leonardo. Adored Nana to Lesley, (Daniel), Mark, Steven, Sarah, Colleen and her precious angel Heather (2012). Will be missed by family in England and her former son-in-law Brian Poole and his wife Cathy. Joan served in the British Army during WWII as Sergeant in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. She was a well respected manager at OHIP for 18 years. Those that knew her will miss her wit, dry sense of humour and her insatiable thirst for knowledge. Friends will be received at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East, on Tuesday, December 31, 10:30 to 11:30, followed by a funeral in the chapel at 11:30. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens to follow. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of CTU Central for their compassionate care over the last 8 weeks and also thank you to family physician Dr. R Epstein for his dedicated care over the last several years.
