Dearly loved wife of the late John MacNeil (2022); most cherished Mum of Elaine Horvat (Ivan), Raymond MacNeil (Sandy) and Fiona MacNeil. Beloved NaNa to 7 Grandchildren that she loved dearly; Erik Horvat, Bobby Horvat (Jacque), Matthew MacNeil, Danielle Barry (Jake), Natasha Horvat, Brigitte MacNeil and Alex MacNeil. Special Great NaNa to Austin, Riley, Harmony, Hensleigh and Isaac. She loved her family unconditionally; was protective, proud and supportive always. She leaves behind her sister-in-laws Eileen O'Flaherty, Finn MacNeil & Joanne Boudreau as well as her brother-in-law Jimmy MacKinnon. Predeceased by her parents Matthew & Ella Patrick, her sister Ann Presti and in-laws Hector & Mary-Anne MacNeil. Also predeceased by brother-in-laws Peter Presti, Mickey MacNeil, Francis MacNeil, Sonny Boudreau, Arnie Leudy & Paddy O'Flaherty; as well as sister-in-laws Agnes Boudreau, Sadie Leudy, Dolena MacKinnon and Louise MacNeil.
Also her baby Grandson John Arthur MacNeil will be with her in heaven. Well loved Aunt Jean to many nieces & nephews in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Texas; she had a gift of making everyone feel like family if they were related or not. A loyal friend to so many; young and old - she made friends easily and kept them - with her good nature and positive attitude it is not surprising how special she was to so many. Special lifelong friend to Grace Duchno; they went through the ups and downs of life together meeting when their husbands both worked at Dofasco.
Our mum was born in Kilsyth, Scotland; she immigrated to Canada in 1957 to be near a young Canadian soldier, our dad John MacNeil. How a young girl from a small town in Scotland met a young man from a small town in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; has always been something that amazed everyone; but it was meant to be. Our parents' love for each other was true and inspiring to all of us and we are comforted by thinking they are together once again. Our family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave E. for visitation on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 6pm - 9pm. A Funeral Service to celebrate our mum's life will be held at Cresmount on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11am with cremation to follow. Thank you mum for all you gave us and taught us; we learned from you to always be hopeful no matter what; you always said "It's a great life if you don't weaken" and you never did; always smiling and being positive. Your resilience through good times and bad makes us so proud of you; we don't know what we are going to do without you; we love you so much.
