Peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on May 5th, 2014 at the age of 93. Beloved and devoted husband of Mary for almost 67 years. Loved father of Bill (Joyce), John (Michelle), Mary Robertson (Al), and Betty (Reid Topping). Loving papa of Maggie (Luke), Michael (Kim), Andrew, David, and Erin. Predeceased by his grandson Russell. Proud great-papa of Jacob and Katie. Jim was a veteran of WWII (RCAF) and was proud to have been a mechanic working on Lancaster bombers. After the war he returned to his trade as a patternmaker in Hamilton, the city he proudly called home for most of his life. Jim was an original season ticket holder and a life-long fan of the Tiger Cats even though he would often refer to the team when it played poorly as “a bunch of dough-heads”. Jim was a long time member of Grace Anglican Church in Hamilton and was honoured to be a recipient of the Order of Niagara from the Anglican Church of Canada for his years of service and dedication. Jim brought a smile to all he met. He taught his family the importance of helping others and gave freely of his time. He was a loving family man and will be missed. Thanks to the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital and the Hamilton General Hospital for their care over the last month and a special thank you to Dr. Hack for his compassion and understanding. Visitation will be held at TRUSCOTT, BROWN & DWYER FUNERAL CHAPEL (1309 King Street East, across from Gage Park at the Delta) on Thursday, May 8 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, May 9 at 11 am with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Salvation Army or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online tributes can be made at www.tbdfuneralchapel.com
