Dear Stephanie, Graham, Emily, Owen and Cody.  I've been reading the beautiful tributes to your Dad written by people who loved him a long time before I did. Way back when we first started talking, being a woman, I asked him what the "plan" was regarding where or if our getting together was in the picture. We decided on a "5 year plan"  and our "safe word" was Calypso in case of any rise in temperature of irritation we were feeling. Of course, he barely had to use for me:)  When your Dad and I started sharing our lives, it meant sharing all of you too. I've been blessed to have seen all of you growing in fantastic ways that suit your individuality and creativity. Keep it up! You've got this. If I haven't said this enough, I love you all. Thank you for sharing your Dad with me.

Dear Jack, our special dear cousin. Our band was made by our mom, the three sisters born in Amsterdam, Hilda from the Netherlands, Miep from Canada and Riki from the United States. They have experienced poverty, they had to endure the second world war, where your mother almost died and they got married resulting in emigration. They missed each other very much, in special your mother, she  was homesick very often. This made us, the next generation value family ties. After you came to visit the Netherlands with your sweet buddy, we started to love you even more. So attentive, interested and a kind man, without judging others. An example for all of us. ENJOY LIFE is your motto. But Jack, sometimes you get hit so hard in life that it's hard to  get back up. Like now for us and especially for your family and Mimi. Your wish and my wish is that your loved ones will find the strength to stay upright and hold into your life motto.  That the love you have given, gives them strength, without  forgetting you for ever!  But the sadness about losing you comes first, becaus you leave a huge void behind. In Holland we are really in shock. What a family drama and we sympathize with your daughter, her husband and your and Mimi her grandchildren and of course Mimi herself. And also colleagues and friends. We are confused and silent. We will miss you cousin because we know that a blood bond can be strong even if we live so far from each other. I remember Jack from his visits to Holland and the frequent chats in our Dutch / USA family app. He was always so kind and funny in his replies, a though yet friendly and loving man that I have fond memories of. Have known Jack for 13 years as we worked for the same company.  Always a great and funny person to talk to, Was a great pleasure to know you.  Rest in peace.

I met jack through one of his best friends mark grant . You could tell once you met him that he was a very nice guy and had a big heart . The thing that I will always cherish about him and always remember was his laugh and how he could make jokes after jokes and make you laugh and smile ! Any day on the water with him fishing was going to be a good day even if you didn't catch fish but we always seemed to find them . Jack may you rest in peace .My deepest condolences to your family ! I worked with Jack for over 30 years........what a kind and gentle soul. I never heard a bad word about Jack. Quick to smile and joke around. He was someone who made work enjoyable, and fun. We had a lot in common and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. He will be truly and greatly missed. Rest in peace my friend....God bless.

There are no words that can tell you what a void you leave behind.  You felt like my youngest brother to me, all the way in Canada.  I am so glad that Nico and I were able to give you and Mimi a nice holiday here in Holland and also a week in Austria and got to know you even better.  You were a great person, always interested in everyone, cheerful, loved a good beer and a special butt once in a while lol.  You loved life so much now that you had Mimi by your side and your sweet Steph, Graham and you were so proud of your grandchildren too. Dear Jack

I've been blessed that I had the chance to meet you, even if it was only once. We started chatting on the beach when you were visiting family in Holland a couple of years back. Within minutes we started joking fooling around and planning a fishing trip in Canada. Since that day you always showed your care for me and my family. Replying on every Facebook post you saw about us. Always a kind word, always a funny remark. You will be deeply missed. The best always go to soon, my grandfather always said. I guess he was right. What a heartbreaking news. My condolences to you both. We all loved Jack and he will be missed by his Dutch Family. I've met him once, when he came to the Netherlands, but he was the kindest man, always joking around and supporting in our family app Holland, USA, Canada. When he was in the Netherlands he talked with my husband Joey about our Dream to come to Canada and they would go and fish together. Jack i hope you will rest in piece, you are gone way to soon. It is going to be a hard time for Mimi and your daughter because they have to live without you and your grandkids without there opa. He was the best Uncle anyone could wish for. He could always be counted on, whether it was to lift your spirits, lend an ear or offer advice. He was smart, patient, thoughtful, dependable and reliable. I have met very few like him. He taught me a lot about life and people. I love you very much and will miss you Uncle Jack, gone too soon.
