I am saddened by the passing of my friend Irene.  Over the last 11 years, she brightened my Friday mornings with her huge smile and forever pleasant conversations.   A wonderful kind, loving person!  I will miss her greatly.

I met Irene at Villa Italia where my mom has lived for the past three years. They were neighbors there. I loved Irene so much. She always had a smile on her face and was always so warm and welcoming towards me. I always searched her out to say hello. Seeing here always made me smile. The puzzle table won't be the same without her there. I was lucky to have met her. My mother is going to miss her very much. Our deepest condolences go out to all her family and friends. Rest in peace sweet Irene.

Our Auntie Irene was an amazing, strong, caring woman. 
We have nothing but the fondest memories of our time spent with her. From Christmas times, to weddings, anniversaries, baby/bridal showers, family reunions, to time spent at Orr Lake. She was always up to host any occasion, anytime. I myself remember going in to Woolco to see her at work whenever I could. Her shortbread -the best, her meatballs - delicious, and my personal favourite, her salmon cheese ball - yum. Her laugh was infectious, her smile beautiful, but the sparkle in her eye whenever she would talk about her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids was enough to light up a room.
Auntie Irene, you will be missed beyond measure. Say hi to Uncle Al, Mom, and Bill. Oskee wee wee 🐯🏈

I'm Maia Beckerson, I'm a family member of my beloved great grandma Irene. She was a very kind person, who always has a compliment for you and loved you no matter what. My great grandma was one of my favorite people in the world. Her legacy will forever continue as I have her name. We will forever love you great grandma Irene.

My grandmother, Irene, was a well respected, hard working, beautiful, caring, supportive person. She taught me, by example, that no matter what, even in adverse times, you pick yourself up and battle and you will succeed. 

She was one of the most influential, supportive people in my life and I was blessed by God to have the privilege to be her grandson. The man I am today is largely shaped by the impact and role she played in my life and example she set for me. I am forever grateful for the influence she had over me and I will continue every day to try to make her proud. 

My grandmother was one of the most hardworking people I've ever met, (working all of her life from a young age, through the war in factories supporting the war effort and finishing at Woolco in the smoke shop) and together her and my grandfather constructed and shared a beautiful, humble life together. A life I, and my family, are proud of them for. A life that is an inspiration to all of us to strive to achieve. One of happiness and devotion to eachother forged out of love, and the drive and ambition to achieve their common goals together. Their legacy will live on through myself, my sister and my cousins, and down through their 12 great-grandchildren, whom my grandmother was lucky enough to see come into the world and grow into the wonderful young people they are today.

 We stand on the shoulders of the giants you and grandpa were and graciously receive the torch you leave us and pass down for all of us to carry on your lasting legacy.

I love you grandma. I am proud of you and the path you blazed for us to follow on. I am proud to be your grandson and carry the torch you hand down to me forward. I will see you again on the otherside. Until then say hi to grandpa and enjoy your time together as you reunite. You deserve all the rewards that are coming to you.

This isn't goodbye, it's so long for now,

Irene was a beautiful lady, with so many funny stories to tell! She had a wonderful sense of humor, and she was always making us laugh at the Villa. I spent many quiet moments working on a puzzle with her, which I miss very much. Sending love to all of her family, whom she loved so much and talked fondly of often.
