Ian Whitfield Smith

It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful father, father-in-law and grandfather Ian Smith, on Friday, December 23rd, 2016 in his 79th year, surrounded by his loving family at the Hamilton General Hospital. Ian waspredeceased by his beloved wife Dolores and his son Paul. Ian will be greatly missed by his children Grant (Sandy), Clare, Michelle and by his adoring granddaughters Chelsea (Alex), Jenna and Carley. Predeceased by his parents James Smith and Mary Balfour, brother Brian Smith, his mother and father in law David and Jane O’Brien and brother-in-law David O’Brien. Ian will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters Jim (Vicky) Smith, and Irene (Jamie) Carruthers of Canada, Agnes (Peter) Connor and William (Betty) Balfour of Scotland, and sister-in-laws Betty Smith, June (late John) Carr, Kai (late Jim) McTiernan and best friend Janette (late John) Thomson all of Scotland. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Our Dad will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and his love for his dogs, soccer and movies.
