In her 93rd year, the matriarch of our family passed away peacefully on 12/15/2021.
Predeceased by her husband Patrick(Sonny), daughter Carrolyn, sons Sonny and Ronnie, granddaughter Jennifer, son-in-laws Dan and Joe, mother Mamie, step father Tom, sisters Adrienne, Helen, Trisha and brothers Mickey, E.J. and Ray. Reunited with her very special Aunts Lamie, Regina and Helen McCullum. She leaves behind her daughters Genevieve and Louella and son Edward (Darlene), daughter-in-laws Marilyn and Maryann. Nanny Burke will be missed by her 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and her 4 great-great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sisters Beckey (Paul), Gail ,Gloria and brothers Frankie (Debbie), Tommy (Sharon), Ron (Roxanne) and Ricky (Jean), her sister-in-law Christie in Cape Breton, and all of her family and friends that are still down home.
Gloria was born and raised on Cape Breton Island and moved to Hamilton in 1966 to St Ann’s’ Parish. She worked in Dietary at St Peters Hospital. Next to her husband Gloria’s passion was her family and friends. A special thank you to staff at Willow Grove LTC and Grand River Nrsg for all their TLC.
Proof of double vaccination and photo ID is required for all guests attending the visitation. Vaccination is not required to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church and burial services. Contact tracing information will be collected at the funeral home and church. Masks are required at all times.
Visitation will be held at the Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main St E (east of Sanford Ave.), Hamilton, on Sunday, December 19th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with prayers at 8:30 pm. Funeral Mass at St Ann’s Church, 120 Sherman Ave N., Hamilton on Monday, December 20,2021 at 10 am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 600 Spring Garden Rd (Plains Rd West) Burlington.
