George Edward Read

Loving husband to Marcy Read of 32 years. Adored father to Joanne, Barb, John, Jim, Denise, Michelle, Ashley and Nic. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as extended family and friends. Born on April 24, 1936 in Hamilton, Ontario to Frank & Lillian Read. George wore many hats throughout his life and was involved in many different things. He worked as a mailman for Canada Post, Taxi Driver for Yellow Cab, Jiu Jitsu Instructor, Driver for The Salvation Army & for the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.

He will be most remembered for his sense of humour and the passions he had for music, singing and reading. Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue E. on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11am. Cremation to follow. Special thanks to the staff at Juravinski , Hamilton General & St. Peter's Hospital for the kind care and compassion given to George. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in George's memory.
