BARKOVICH, Mirko (Emric) - With profound sadness, our family announces Emric's passing on February 10, 2016, with his family by his side. Beloved husband and best friend to Donna for almost 40 years. Cherished and devoted father to Jarod, Adam (Cassie Fischer), Gillian (Ryan Sneek) and Alexandra. Emric was looking forward, with great anticipation, to the birth of his first grandchild in June. Survived by his brothers Walter and Joseph. Emric will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law Ruth (Anthony), Bruce, Ted, Betty (Brad), Judy (Carl), Peggy, Carol, Bob (Sandy) and Jim (Marg), nieces, nephews and many friends. Dear friend of Nick and Mary Thomson. Emric was a retired Dofasco employee with 42 years of service. Emric was born in Croatia, and while he was grateful for all the opportunities Canada provided him and his family, he remained a true son of Croatia. Emric was a member of the Croatian National Home and Hrvatsko Srce. Visitation for Emric will be held at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. No formal service will be held. In keeping with Emric's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Scleroderma Society of Ontario.
