Emilio Joseph Cifani

After a heroic battle with cancer, Mel peacefully passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the age of 54. Loving and adoring husband of Josie (nee: Hachey). Committed and excited father of Emilia, Eleonora (Rob) and Jordan; caring stepfather to Steven and Kristina (Jimmy). All his children are profoundly saddened by this loss and his absence. Beloved and cherished son of Celestina and the late, Alberto. Loved and deeply missed by his siblings, Jim (Donna), Ovidio, Annalina, and Angela (Tim). Loved, adored, and will be missed by his nephew, Christopher, and nieces, Danica, and Alicia. Mel recently retired from Stelco after 34 years. He enjoyed fishing, canoeing, camping, hockey, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Juravinski and St. Peter`s Hospitals for their care and compassion. With a special thank you to Dr. Pinthus, Dr. Hotte, and Dr. Craigie. Also, the family would like to acknowledge Sony Poulose and his staff, at Shoppers Drug Mart, Upper Sherman and Stone Church, for their kindness and support. Friends may visit at Cresmount Funeral Home Upper James Chapel, 1020 Upper James from 11:00 am -1:00 pm on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Memorial service and reception to follow.
