He died peacefully in his 85th year after valiantly fighting cancer for 15 years. He was the beloved husband of Mary Nadja Madronich and father of Kim (Aldert), Edward (Karen) and Nicole (Todd). Ed will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Mareike, Joshua, Tia, Max, Madeleine, Jillian, Enya and Sam. Predeceased by his brothers Dr. John and Dr. Bill, he was much beloved by all of the Madronich and Mlekuz clans.
Born in Kirkland Lake, Ed grew up in Beamsville, ON. After completing his undergraduate degree he went on to law school at the University of Toronto. He was a Life Member of the Law Society and granted the title of Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall. After graduation Ed settled in Hamilton to set up his law practice where at a local Slovenian dance he met his wife of 57 years.
Ed is best known for his business acumen and passion for law. He was a man that simply strove towards excellence in all he undertook. That passion and excellence is best exemplified by his creation of Flat Rock Cellars - his passion project, which he embarked on upon retirement. He was a true Rogue who was not shy in breaking established rules, customs and practices.
Travel was an important part of his life. He shared this love with his wife and family, taking them to very special places including Anna Maria Island, Bovec, Venice and other parts of the world.
As a proud father and grandfather, he always attended their sporting events and scholastic achievements. Many a referee could hear his voice in the crowd usually cheering and occasionally correcting their missed calls. He always stood tall at their graduation ceremonies. He was a proud family man.
