Douglas Leonard Martin

Much loved husband of Karen for 53 years. Loving Dad to Erin (the late Vlad Friederichsen).

Predeceased by his parents Ernie and Muriel Martin and his in-laws Earl and Grace Wilson.

He is survived by his siblings Marlene Burrows (the late Jim), Myrna-Gail McDonald (the late Ross), Gord Martin (Linda), and brother-in-law to Brian Wilson (Heather).

He was predeceased by his siblings Velma Gavey (Ralph), June-Marie Provost (Terry), Glenn Martin (Carol), Robert, William and Donald.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S.A., and Australia, and he was a very special Gwampaw to Khloe.

Doug worked in the operating room at both St. Joseph’s and the Hamilton General. He loved his family, he savoured his relationship with his friends and colleagues and enjoyed being involved in his community. He was also a frequent contributor to many newspapers and magazines in the “Letters to the Editor” section.

A special thank you to Dr. Mark Grafham and Dr. Michael Marcaccio and the many other healthcare professionals who helped care for Doug.

Friends will be received at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main Street East, Hamilton on Friday, June 2nd from 2-4 & 7-9. A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held at Central Presbyterian Church, 165 Charlton Ave. W., Hamilton, on Saturday, June 3rd at 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Centre (Hamilton) or the Out of the Cold Program at Central Presbyterian Church.
