Predeceased by siblings Murdigan, Jimsy, and Sandra and survived by sisters Nancy and Margaret (Ian), brother Dondy (Joan) and Sister-in-law Janet and missed by many family and friends in Scotland, U.S. And Canada
Donald was born in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland, on May the 4th 1929. He started working as a apprentice pipe fitter at the age of 14 and never stopped. He was fixing trim on his garage in May at the age of 93.
He served for 3 years in the R.A.F. In Britain and 18 months in the Far East. He emigrated to Canada and was a proud Life Member of the Plumbers, Steamfitters and Pipewelders Local 67 of Hamilton which he joined in May of 1957. He was to receive his 65 year pin this November.
He was also a Life Member of the Halifax Association R.C.A.F. Trenton, Ontario and a Member and former Tour Guide at the Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton. His love of flying led to flying lessons and a first solo flight at the age of 77.
He had a great appreciation for music, playing the accordion for most of his life. He loved attending the Highland Games and following the Hamilton Police Pipeband. He had a deep faith in God and spent many hours reading a cherished family Bible in his later years. He taught us the true meaning of hard work, determination, honesty and love and will be profoundly missed.
We are thankful for the care provided in his final days by Drs. Gladstone, Patel, Scott and student Madeline and for the many years of care provided by Drs. Anil Kapoor and Natya Raghavan.
His family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 12 noon. Cremation will follow and private family interment. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church or to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
