Born in Yorkshire, England, Colin passed away peacefully with family by his side at St. Peter’s at Chedoke Hospital on Monday, December 5, 2016 in his 89th year. Loving husband of Maureen for 64 years and much loved father of Gillian (Bob) Hendry, Christopher (Judy) Lane, Melinda (Pat Martin) Lane, and Barbara Lane. Proud grandfather of Ethan, Jared, Rachael, Cassandra, Crystal, Geoffrey, Grant, Elizabeth, Michael, and Ryan. When Colin and Maureen arrived in Canada in 1955, Colin joined the Hamilton Police Force. In 1970 Sears Canada sought out his services. Colin would serve 17 years with Sears retiring as Resource Protection Manager. Continuing to be active in retirement, Colin learned to play the Tuba with the Dundas Concert Band, took up sailing, did woodwork, and engaged in many volunteer activities including St. Peter’s at Chedoke Hospital. He had a strong military background including service with the British Airborne and culminating as Lt. Colonel/Commanding Officer of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry (1980). Thanks to the incredible, loving and respectful staff on Birch Terrace of St. Peter’s at Chedoke Hospital; your care brought great comfort to Colin and our family. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME-UPPER JAMES CHAPEL, 1020 Upper James Street, Hamilton. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted in the Cresmount Upper James Funeral Chapel on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. Donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.
