1941-2024
It is with immense sadness and broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Eileen on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the age of 83.
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Hugo and Eliza DellaValle. She came to Ontario at the age of 21 and met her late husband Giacinto ‘Buffo’. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this week. They are finally reunited again to dance in each other’s loving arms. She will be forever in the hearts of her daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn (Dean) Oliveira and Lisa. Nonna will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Emily, Vincent (Amy) and Juliana. Her heart was full with her great-granddaughters Laylah and Lyzah. The oldest and loving sibling to Dorothy (dec. Gerry), and Hughena (Paula) from Newfoundland, and George, Angelina (John), and Nick (Val) from Nova Scotia. Survived by her sister-in-law Eva (dec. Mario) of Italy, predeceased by brother-in-law Angelo (Giovanna) of Hamilton, Achille (Maria), Ida (Pio), and Maria (Giovanni), all of Italy. She will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eileen was a special friend to many, and will especially be missed by her best friends Elaine and Mario Trabucco, and Teresa Bellagamba.
In 2012, Eileen moved into a new community and was lovingly welcomed by a wonderful group of women from the St. Luke’s friendship group. She was also a proud member of the St. Luke’s Catholic Women’s League. Thank you to each and every one of you for your love and friendship.
We will miss the beautiful person you always were, your love for your family and your amazing cooking and baking. You will always be cherished, admired and forever in our hearts.
A special thank you to the Hamilton General Hospital ICU and Stroke Unit for your compassion during this difficult time, and for all the support we’ve received from our family and friends. Visitation at Markey-Dermody 1774 King St. E will be held on Sunday, September 29 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, 200 Mount Albion Rd in Hamilton, on Monday, September 30th at 10am.
