Robert "Bob" Hartley Koehn, age 72, of Hamilton, passed away Thursday, July 11th at Juravinski Hospital. He fought a brief battle with lung cancer and his loved ones are comforted by the fact that he lived at home safe for one week and felt no pain in his final days.
Born January 24th, 1952 to Carl and Dorothy Koehn, Bob’s youth and young adulthood was spent moving back and forth between Dundas and Toronto. He attended Ryerson institute, then McMaster University where he obtained his Master's degree in Economics. The entirety of his professional career was spent at Brock University, where he was a consistent favorite among the students for his unique styles, both in teaching and dress.
In 1976, three years after meeting at Ryerson when Bob’s trademark cynical comedy caught the ears of Roxanna Johnson during a lecture, the two of them began living together. After greatly enjoying life in Toronto together they moved to Dundas, and then Hamilton, having three children along the way; Garnet, Lee, and Morgan.
Bob is predeceased by his parents Carl and Dorothy, and Roxanna’s mother Ethel. He is survived by his life partner Roxanna Johnson, daughter Lee (Jon), sons Garnet (Lorraine) and Morgan (Natalie), grandchildren Nigel, RJ, Mara, and Vincent, bonus grandchildren Kayla, Dustin, Kennedy and Roxanna’s father Cecil.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19th, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home (1774 King St East, Hamilton), followed by a celebration of life at Collin’s Brewhouse (33 King St West) in Dundas on Sunday, July 21st between 3-7pm. The Celebration of Life will include food, drinks and anyone who wishes to speak can do so between 5-6pm.
