McLean, Beatrice (Bea) Cliporah (July 26, 1936 – November 3, 2010) - passed away unexpectedly at her home in Hamilton on November 3, 2010. Beloved sister of Ophelia, Joyce, Reynold, Constance, Mavis (pre-deceased), and Ouida (pre-deceased), and loving aunt to several nieces and nephews. Bea is also survived by her aunts Wilhelmena and Louisa, and a large extended family in Canada, the U.S.A., Europe, Jamaica and other islands of the Caribbean. Bea was born in Jamaica where she received her early education and worked as a teacher. She migrated to Scotland where she trained and practised as a nurse before moving to Hamilton in 1966 to continue her nursing career and establish permanent residence. A lifelong community volunteer, Bea was a pivotal and founding member of the Afro-Canadian Caribbean Association (ACCA), and volunteered full-time after early retirement. She was involved in both the Ontario Liberal Party and the Liberal Party of Canada, and was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection (Anglican). Bea was an adventurous world traveller who enjoyed singing, dancing, cooking, baking, and the creative arts. She has been a friend and mentor to many, and is already missed. Friends are invited to call at Cresmount Funeral Home “Fennell Chapel”, 322 Fennell Ave. E., Hamilton, from 2pm to 4 pm and 7pm to 9pm, on Friday, November 19, 2010. A Funeral Service celebrating Bea’s life will be held at Christ's Church Cathedral, 252 James St. N., Hamilton, on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 9am. Interment to follow at Mount Hamilton Cemetery.
