Antonio Ferrara

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Antonio Ferrara on December 9, 2014 at Hamilton General Hospital, at the age of 83. Beloved husband of 60 years to Elda Ferrara (nee Porreca). Loving father of Evelyn Di Filippo (Philip). Cherished Nonno of Pauline, Anthony and Phil Jr. Dear brother of Filomena Celestino of Italy. Predeceased by his brothers Batista Ferrara, Guilio (the late Carmela) Ferrara and brother-in-law Frank Porreca. Tony will be missed by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of Canada and Italy including Hazel Porreca and Linda (Dino) Corbacio. Tony will be remembered for his beautiful garden, love of homemade wine and his notorious dance moves. We would like to express our thanks to the Personal Support Workers at Bayshore Home and Community Health Care Services of Hamilton for their help with the care of Tony. Family and friends can visit at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 2:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Incarnation of Our Blessed Lord Roman Catholic Church (Barton and Nash) on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 9 a.m. Entombment in Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations, in Tony’s memory, to the Canadian Lung Association.
