Anna was the proud mother of three children and loving “Oma” to four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who were all never far from her thoughts and always recipients of her unconditional love and support. Mom was a strong positive woman who along with Dad built a great life in Canada through hard work and sacrifice after immigrating in the 1950’s with two young children and very little in the way of resources, leaving behind family and friends. Her principles of kindness and giving drew everyone she met closer to her, giving her the cherished memories of time spent with countless friends throughout her whole life in Germany and Canada.
The family wishes to thank Debbie McNamee Lamb, Coordinator for Home and Community Care Support Services in Burlington, for the many years of compassionate and effective support she provided Mom. This allowed Mom to live independently in her home as she was adamant to do, until February of this year. We also wish to thank the nurses and staff at Joseph Brant Hospital 500 and 400 North for their excellent care and kindness to Mom in her final weeks.
As well, a special thank you to Peter Lapinski, Joseph Brant Hospital Chaplain and Father Goodwin Pinto of St. Patrick’s Parish in Burlington for guiding Mom on her faith journey while in hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Neurology Unit at Hamilton General Hospital, or the Cancer Centre at Juravinski Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (63 Highway 20 East, Stoney Creek, ON L8J 2W9).
