Sally Ann Sparks

Sally Ann Sparks, age 87, of Middletown Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 16, 2023. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on May 12, 1936 to Herrick Polen and Martha (Scott) Polen. She shared 30 years of marriage together with her husband, John Sparks and has two daughters. She was employed with Mosler Safe Co. For 16 years.

Sally had a passion for music and was a talented pianist and vocalist. She took piano lessons from the age of 8-18 years old, as well as taking singing lessons.

Her first job was with Nellie Downie School of Dance as pianist. She was choir director for many area churches while accompanying choir on piano. She was church soloist for various churches, as well. She played for the weekly dances held at Partners In Prime Senior Center in Hamilton. She occasionally accompanied May Festival Chorus on piano. She taught piano to several students in the Hunter Community.

In addition, she appeared in Sorg Opera House productions as a soloist, and in the Richmond, Indiana opera Chorus. She also played lead roles in Fiddler on the Roof and The Sound of Music with the Lebanon Theater Group.

In her younger years, her favorite hobbies were golf and bowling and she competed in several tournaments and leagues. She was also an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Sparks, her parents Herrick and Martha (Scott) Polen, her two brothers Wendell (Wendy) Polen and Richard (Dick) Polen.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters Nancy Murrell (Larry) and Sharon Sparks, granddaughter Sarah, great-granddaughter Charlotte, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends who all loved her and will dearly miss her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22,2023 at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 2565 Princeton Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45011 beginning at 10:00am until time of services starting at 11:00am. Reverend Ed McNulty, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati who with great dedication, lovingly cared for Sally in her final days.
