He was born on January 20, 1928 to Charles and Nora (Smith) Dawson. On June 6, 1953, he married Verna M. Hon in Hamilton. Robert attended the University of Cincinnati for 2 years, before graduating from the Evening School for Electricity in 1954. He worked for the City of Hamilton as an Electrician in the Metering Department for more than 42 years, before retiring in 1992. Robert was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army during in the occupation Army of Japan at the end of WWII. Robert never met a stranger, he loved to talk to everyone. His detailed memory never ceased to amaze people. Robert was a member of the local IBEW 648 and would frequently get together with his graduating class of 1946. He was a dedicated, involved, parent and grandparent, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Robert is survived by his children Steven Dawson, Michael (Patricia) Dawson, Susan (Matthew) Wessel; grandchildren Matthew, Andrew, Adam, Sara, Christopher, Johnathan; and soon to be great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years and his siblings Dorothy Keene and Raymond Dawson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home from 10:00am to 11:30am. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11:30am with Pastor Kevin Jud officiating. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park.
