News Death Notice

SPRAGUE, Michael L. age 65 of Hamilton passed away Monday, August 20, 2013. Michael was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 28, 1948. He started his career in the Tool & Die trade working at his Father's business for a number of years. In 1977, he made a career change to Law Enforcement and attended the Ohio Peace Officer's Training Academy sponsored by The Butler County Sheriff's Office. He attained the rank of Sergeant and retired 1994. In his earlier years, he was a member of the Dunlap Fire Department located in Colerain Township, as a Volunteer Firefighter and EMT. He was also a lifetime member of the FOP Lodge #38 and the Eagles Lodge #407. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping and was also a Scout Leader when younger. Michael was married to Phyllis J. Haberny (Grays) in 1994 until the time of her death in 2011. He was also preceded in death by his mother Mildred Sprague in 1982, his father Lowell Sprague Jr., in 1995, and his brother Steven (Pam) Sprague in 2012. He felt so proud and fortunate that shortly before his Father's death, his Father served as Best Man at Michael's wedding. He is survived by his step-son Thomas A. Haberny, step-daughter Michelle (Greg) Bowling, brothers Joe (Connie) and Mark Sprague, sisters Diane Cromer and Nancy (Tim) Wright, two grandchildren Joshua & Micah Bowling and many nieces and nephews.
