Michael Wayne Kamp, age 72, of Hamilton, passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Monday September 28, 2015. He was born in South Bend, Indiana on December 5, 1942, the son of Hiram Artellus Jr. and Vivian Virginia (Wensel) Kamp. He graduated from Taft High School, Hamilton, in 1961. Michael was a US Navy veteran serving from 1962 to 1965. He was employed at Mosler Safe for 27 years as well managed several local Drive-In Theaters, and worked at the local skating rink during this time. Following this he owned and operated Rite Way Cleaning Co. Probably Mike’s favorite position was Director of Disaster Response Services for the American Red Cross in Dayton, Ohio and later in Bradenton, Florida. Michael was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 138, member of F&AM, previously a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and a Kentucky Colonel. He also was a volunteer fireman for Darrtown, Ohio. Michael was a certified clown (graduate of Barnum Bailey Clown College) and also played Santa Clause. He was an avid boater and camper as well as a movie, music and karaoke buff. Michael is survived by his wife, Connie G. (Jennings) Kamp, who he married October 15, 1997, in Branden, Florida; two daughters, Kathy (Craig) Wilms and Krista (Jeff) Brandner; step-daughter, Angela Hunter, and a sister, Karen Kamp (Herb) Blank; 15 grandchildren: Adam, Emma, Nicole, Joshua, Alex, Paige, Dylan, Brittany, Clarrissa, Marilyn, Atana, Trinity, Nathan, Jonathan and Michael and 8 great-grandchildren: Halle, Gavin, Peytin, Sydney, Brylee, Oliver, Dylan and Alexia who will greatly miss him; his Brookville Lake Family; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. An Open House Celebration of His Life will be held Friday, October 2, 2015, from 5 PM to 9 PM at the Lodge at Pyramid Hill, 1763 Hamilton Cleves Road, Hamilton, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Animal Friends Humane Society, 1820 Princeton Road, Hamilton, OH, 45011 or to the animal shelter of your choice. Michael’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staffs of 4 Main and ICU of Ft. Hamilton Hospital, and to Drs. Sternberg and Hauger.
