Marcia G. Atkinson

Marcia G. Atkinson, age 88, of Springdale and Liberty Township,Ohio, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 3, 1934 to Harry and Margaret Gossman. She was the 1952 valedictorian of her class at Beavercreek High School. Marcia then attended and graduated with a degree in architecture from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and met her husband of 66 years.

Marcia was a loving mother to four children, and in her spare time was a seamstress, interior designer, and avid reader. She was also an accomplished pianist and taught piano to others. She loved animals, especially dogs, always having one in her home.

Marcia received her Masters of Education degree from Miami University and taught elementary school children in the Winton Woods City School District where she served for 25 years. Marcia and her husband, Charlie, loved to camp and for many years, traveled across the country in their Motor Coach. They spent their retirement in leadership with the Family Motor Coach Association.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles R. Atkinson; brother, Ronald Gossman; and sister, Jean Gossman Kapp. Marcia leaves her children to cherish her memory; Anne A. Laun, Keith Charles Atkinson (Amy), Jill A. Wilkey, and Kay E. Cherry (Allen); seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A private family burial will be held in mid-December.
