Lillian Isabel Silva, age 90, of Hamilton passed away peacefully into God’s care at home on December 5, 2021. She was born on March 22, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to Valentin and Carmen (Osejo) Suarez. In her early childhood the family relocated to Honduras, Central America where Lillian became a school teacher and in 1954 married the love of her life, her husband Edgardo Silva with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Lillian and Edgardo have five children. In 1972, the family relocated to the United States to Hamilton, Ohio where she became a homemaker dedicating her life to raising her family.
Lillian enjoyed crocheting, playing Bingo, spending time with her friends and family. She was a crochet volunteer for Good Samaritan Hospital Maternity Ward where she made hundreds of newborn hats. The weekends were spent enjoying Hueston Woods and Brookville Lake with the family. She was an active member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church for 50 years. She enjoyed cooking and her kitchen was everyone’s favorite spot. Her cooking was once featured in the local newspaper. She enjoyed traveling the US and Europe finally fulfilling her dream to visit her father’s homeland of Asturias, Spain. She thoroughly enjoyed visiting family and friends in Honduras.
She is survived by her husband Edgardo Silva; her children, Francisco (Ursula) Silva, Juan Carlos (Barbara) Silva, Carol (Mike) Hartman, Martin Silva; her grandchildren Gregory, Michele, Jamie, Corie, Nick, Christopher, Erick, Carmen, Erika, Amaya; 11 great grandchildren and one on the way; her brother Valentin Suarez, sisters Eloina Suarez, Carmen Valle, Yolanda Stanifer, daughter in law Holly Silva and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Luis Fernando, her parents Valentin and Carmen and two great grandchildren Xavier and Xander.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, aides and staff from Hospice of Cincinnati also Paula Beyer, Fanny Tipoh, Kelly Zimmerer, Johnna Sizemore as they all provided exceptional care of our Mother; finally Father Mike Pucke who has supported all of us spiritually thru this journey and brought peace and comfort with his spiritual words and prayers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 9:30 AM at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church 382 Liberty Ave. Hamilton, OH 45013 with Fr. Mike Pucke Celebrant. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park 2421 Princeton Road Hamilton, OH 45011.
