Lee Combs, Jr., age 88 of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. He was born on March 27, 1926 in Busy, KY, the son of the late Lee and Georgia (Campbell) Combs. On January 14, 1952 in Richmond, IN, Lee married his wife of over 57 years, Joan (Bell) Combs, and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2009. He left high school to join the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, but years later decided to go back to school and graduated from Garfield High School. Lee was employed at G.E. as a jet technician for 44 years, retiring in 1996. He was a Life Member of the D.A.V. Chapter 15. Lee was also a Kentucky Colonel and loved music and the Cincinnati Reds. He was a man of great faith and believed in the power of prayer. Lee is survived by his daughter, Sue Combs; nephew, Carl (Donna) Mullins; niece, Glenda (Richard) Martin; great-nieces and nephews, Cindi Mason, Donald Mullins, Sarah Bishop, Brian Martin and James Martin; special cousin, Stan Sizemore; dear friend and fellow musician, Eddie Drake; and numerous cousins, great-great- and great-great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Steven Lee Combs; and sisters, Margaret Combs and Adlena Mullins. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton with Pastor William Brantingham officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held from 2pm until 4pm on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the funeral home.
