Jean Carnes, age 79 of Fairfield, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Sun Oct 14, 2012. Jean was born in Lewis Co Ky on Nov 21, 1932 to Russia and Stella Maude Harrison. She graduated from Lewis Co. High, and Miami Univ. She taught at schools in Ky and Ohio starting in 1951 in a 2 room school house at age 19. She met her future husband Ron Carnes while teaching in Bellevue, Ky and they were married Aug 6, 1955. In 1959 they moved to Fairfield, Oh where they raised their family. Jean taught elementary school in Fairfield for most of her career, retiring in 1980. She loved children and teaching and was a devoted mother, sister and friend. Jean was the youngest of 8 siblings all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving son Whitney Carnes, Cincinnati, and devoted daughter Shelly (Tom) Martin, Okeana, Oh.
