James Johnson, age 87, of Fairfield, died on Monday, January 9, 2012, at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born in Corbin, Kentucky, on August 20, 1924, the son of the late James T. and Rosa Mae (Pridemore) Johnson. He was a graduate of Corbin High School. In Bristol, Tennessee, on August 27, 1973, James married Katie (Harris) Johnson and she preceded him in death on April 8, 2005. James was a Tool and Die Maker for General Electric in Evendale for 32 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and yard work. James is survived by three children, Tonya Johnson, James Lee (Judy) Johnson and Jan Allen Johnson; step-daughters, Terry Gilreath and Trina Johnson; step-sons, Larry Collins, Daryl Peacock and Ronnie Peacock; four grandchildren, Logan, Lexi, Michelle and Michael; five great-grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and several close friends. James was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen and Bea; and one brother, Raymond Johnson. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, at 1pm on Thursday, January 12, 2012, with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will be received prior to the service on Thursday from 11am-1pm at the funeral home.
