I have known Hilda for many years. We car pooled in the early 1960s. She was the driver. Since that time her family and our family have crossed paths many times. I have always appreciated our friendship.

I remember your mom taking me up to her bedroom and playing the song killing me softly by Roberta Flack. We both got teary eyed. She also showed me all her heirlooms and jewelry she had .May all your good memories of her keep her alive in your heart ❤ so sorry for your loss. Betty Feltner Welch




My Aunt Hilda is imprinted in my mind and life, growing up, spending most Sundays at her house watching the wonderful world of Disney on her colored TV; her devotion to my dad and all of their horrible wonderful childhood stories. Her blunt honesty. They all had the storytelling gift and I feel lucky that I was able to hear them as long as I did. COVID kept us away but we had great talks on the phone (my last being in my daughter’s hospital room this October when our latest grandchild was born. She always wanted me and my brothers to get our last names fixed. My dad had added an S in the Navy and he just never changed it so our birth certificates are all Fields. She pestered me about it even on that last phone call. She and my dad look so much alike that I felt like I was talking to him through her and she loved that. Well I could go on and on. My love to all my cousins-she loved you all so much.

I sure love her spunk and her smile. She was one of a kind

When Aunt Hilda visited us in Fairbanks years ago, we had a platform high up in the spruce trees.   There was  no railing, no sides; it was probably very dangerous.   But she decided she wanted to climb up to the platform, and she did.    We had a nice visit with her during that trip - and a lot of fun.      We will all miss her very much, but remember her well.       

Hilda I will miss you. I remember going to your house after church on sundays. You were there for support when mom passed away. All the stories you two can now share. You were a true friend.

Your Mom was such a sweet lady. I always felt so welcome when I visited. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to all of you.

We met Hilda through her daughter, Andrea. We were privileged to have known Hilda. She was such a generous person who loved to live life. We are sure she has been reunited with so many of her loved ones. Rest In Peace Hilda.  

I will sadly miss my wonderful Aunt Hilda forever. I loved her so much and think of our memories together. We had some great times that I will never forget. Especially our trip to Florida, Aunt Hilda,Uncle Denny, and me! I definitely kept them on their toes!We had a fantastic time that I cherish every day . Also our great trip to New Mexico where we stopped each night at places with swimming pools so Juli and I could practice our diving.She was so wonderful to me and to Juli. She was our special Aunt, She would sew for us and make us the cutest summer outfits. We had a special bond that I will miss for the rest of my life. I love you Aunt Hilda and I know that you are with all of our loved ones. Your loving niece,Jami

When I think of Aunt Hilda, it is with a smile. I remember fun times at family gatherings and her spunky personality. Those were the days! 
To my cousins, I hope your hearts are soothed by the knowledge that we sense your loss but share the joy of having been in her life. 

Mom was very close to all of her grandchildren. Matt is the oldest grandson. She always had time for them!

So many wonderful memories of my Aunt Hilda.....grape jelly! There was never a time in my childhood or adult life that I saw her and she didn't tell me I was beautiful--even when I was scrawny, had a pixie haircut and too short bangs! Loved all of our get togethers with the Field, Sipe, Callahan Clan and her visits in later life to my houses in both Fairbanks, Alaska and Borrego Springs, California. She will be missed.

I met Hilda on an Election Day; she was dressed in red, white and blue and displayed her “I voted” badge proudly. I was immediately drawn to her. She was smart, sassy and a WOMAN.  My dogs Bear and Koda both loved visiting her. Koda even sat on her lap to watch The Price is Right. We ate pizza and dreamed about a road trip to California to visit the game show.  Then we discussed her beloved children and grandchildren. She was so proud to be the Callahan matriarch.  Of her family’s accomplishments. I was proud to be her friend.  She had a way of making me feel like family. I will cherish her friendship always and hold her dear in heart and memories.  Thank you Kathea and Sandy for sharing your Mother with me.

Mamaw Hilda was in her own words, "a bird."  She kept us all on our toes.  I was blessed to have her in my life for (47) years and will miss her.  She had a very exciting life and shared many of her stories with me of her travels around the world.  Mamaw had an influence on my spiritual life and was a good teacher of God's word.  Now she is back with Dad, Papaw, Aunt Andrea, Aunt Sandy (and numerous other loved ones). I am sure she is happy to be home with God.  Love you Mamaw!

Hilda was definitely one of a kind and will certainly be missed!  I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with her.   My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.  -Erin  

So happy Hilda was a friend to my mom Carole and my dad Bill.  I wish her family peace.
