Gregory Dane Adkins, age 70, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on August 27, 1954, to the union of Ellis Ed and Lila Marie Adkins. Gregory (A.K.A. “Coach A”) was a well-known and loved pillar in the community. He was baptized in the Mad River by members of Enterprise Baptist Church of Fairborn. He had a passion for teaching in Butler County schools, including Preble Shawnee, (where he also owned a driving school), Madison Elementary, Hamilton High, and Garfield Middle school, eventually retiring in 2007. He had life-changing interactions with over 40 thousand students and athletes. Greg enjoyed coaching, especially football and softball. Greg was responsible for taking the Hamilton High School girls softball team to state championships twice. He was also a huge Bengals fan. Family and friends will fondly remember Greg’s generosity and unconditional love for everyone he knew. He ended every conversation with the catchphrase, “Love you. Bye.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers-in-law, David Kempf, and Victor Valorani.
Greg leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Christopher Dane Adkins, and Nicholas Bernard Adkins; sisters, Brenda Kempf and Gail Valorani; grandson Deegan Dane Adkins; nieces, Alicia Kempf and Jessica Marie McClellan (Harold), who will both hold fond memories of their uncle Greg; nephew, Charles Ellis Gregory Osborne; great nephews Andre, and William; great niece, Tamia, and dear friend, Patricia Betz.
