Yvonne Joyce McGinnis

Age 85, of Halifax, passed away April 25, 2016 at Northwood Centre.

Born in Charlottetown, PEI. She was the daughter of the late Nora Ross.

Yvonne worked for Robert Simpson and Co. and Sears.

She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church.

Yvonne’s greatest love was her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and friends especially her extended family at Northwood.

She was a military wife for 35 years and travelled the globe with her husband.

Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Colleen Anne (David) Arnold; and sons, Michael Ross (Lemin) McGinnis and Gerald Paul (Dineen) McGinnis; grandchildren, Cynthia Arnold Jobes , David Kyle Arnold, Aaron Gordon McGinnis, Regan Kelsey McGinnis and Mike Gerald McGinnis; great-grandchildren, Lily and Clara Jobes.

Besides her mother, Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Gerald John McGinnis, and brothers, Gordon, Lloyd and Patrick.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 7–9 p.m. at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral Service will take place Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, 6903 Mumford Rd, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society.
