Power, William (Bill) Kenneth age 82 of Halifax, passed away peacefully at home October 21, 2019. Born in Halifax he was the son of Nicholas LaMont and Ellen Francis (McSweeney). He is survived by his wife Carol (Cater) and his four children and grandchildren. His son Bill, daughter-in-law Niki (Anthes), and grandchildren Emma, Lindsey, and Bridget; his daughter Elizabeth Piercey, son-in-law Sean, and grandchildren Jacob and Ellie, his son Paul, daughter-in-law Tami (Bulger), and grandchildren Molly, Lauren, and Liam; and his son Michael, daughter-in-law Tammy (Greencorn), and grandchildren Will, Isabelle, and Andrew. He is predeceased by brothers and sisters Catherine (Boucher), Clara (Martin), Mickey, Helen (Sancton), Donald, and Margaret (Sheck); and survived by his sister Bernadette (Rice) and several nieces and nephews.
He worked for Public Works Canada for 35 years and undertook a wide variety of community based volunteering. He was the president of the Halifax Minor Hockey Association working to ensure any child regardless of means had a place to play. He was treasurer for the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul and could be found organizing charitable efforts throughout the year. He was co-chair of the Air Canada Cup in Halifax in 1982. He was a one-time chair of the finance committee for Saint Catherine of Siena and Saint Theresa’s churches. Also a one-time treasurer of the Charitable Irish Society, he worked to place the Celtic cross that can be seen at the corner of Bedford Row and Duke Street. He was a lover of sports and an avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan and was himself a member of the Saint Mary’s University Sports Hall of Fame with the 1956 Football Team.

Mass is to be held 11:00am Friday October 25, 2019 at St Catherine of Siena Church on Bayers Road, Halifax with a reception to follow in the church hall. A private interment will be held. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul.
