Pothier, Paul William "Bill" - Passed away surrounded by family at the Infirmary Hospital, Halifax. Born in Wedgeport, Yarmouth County on Aug. 23, 1931 to Jacques Abbe and Elodie Pothier.
Bill graduated from the School for the Blind in Halifax then attended the vocational school (cooking). He worked for a year as the cook for the weather station personnel on Sable Island and the remainder of his career (until retirement) at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. His generosity and ready wit touched all who knew him. He is survived by his only sister, Lorraine MacBournie and numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Bill was pre-deceased by his bothers Loran, Gerald, Donald, Norbert, Vernon, Loran's wife Shirley (nee Crowtz), Vernon's wife Alvina (nee Poirier) and their daughter Paulette (Jenkins). Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20 from 6-8pm at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street where his memorial service will also take place on Saturday, April 21 at 2pm. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
