The family of Vince MacDonald, age 72, is very sad to announce his peaceful passing on Aug. 2, 2019 at the VG. He was born in Halifax on Dec. 14, 1946, the older son of the late Angus and Sylvia (Forbes) MacDonald.
Vince grew up in Bridgewater where he had many great life-long friends and where he enjoyed spending time. He was a graduate of Saint Mary’s University. In his early years, he worked for CIBC. He later went on to work in the construction business and then was manager at Royal Oaks Golf Club followed by Osprey Ridge Golf Club.
His family and friends always came first. Vince is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judi (Silvester), his much-loved children, Shannon (Steve McDonald), Brendan (Marianne Dobbin), Caitlin, Meaghan (Chris Joharchy), as well as his wonderful grandchildren, Evelyn and Archie McDonald. He is also survived by his brother, Errol. He will be sadly missed by his many close and dear friends. He’ll also be missed by his loving canine, “Penny”.
Since Vince was an avid golfer, a Celebration of Life will be held at Ashburn Golf Club, 3250 Joseph Howe Ave., Halifax, on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, from 1 – 4 p.m. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses, 8th floor, VG Site for their compassion and care.
