It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Violetta Cornelius, aged 85 on November 15th, 2019 at Parkstone Enhanced Care Facility in Halifax. Born in Halifax, she lived in Mushaboom until her late teens.
Violetta was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Jessie Boutilier, loving husband Ronald, son Stephen, sisters, Joan (Stan), Jessie (Alec) and brothers, Robert and Guy, and brother-in-law, Roy Mullins. She is survived by sisters, Alice (Andy), Linda (Duncan), brother, Douglas (Linda), sister-in-laws, Jane and Beverly, her son, Ronald (Judy) and daughter, Heather (Steve), daughter-in-law Tina, five grand daughters, Katie, Carrie, Emily, Allison, Megan and great-grandson, Jack and numerous nieces and nephews. They were all her pride and joy.
Mom was a special kind of person. The eldest of five girls and three boys, she helped her Dad raise all of her siblings after their mother died in child birth when she was eighteen years old. She gave selflessly to her family, never asking for anything in return and never speaking a harsh word to or about anyone. Her strength and determination lasted her whole life right to the very end. Despite many hardships, she led by example, teaching all her family the value of hard work, honesty and integrity. We would like to thank the staff at Parkstone for all the support, care and love they showed our mother to the end. We will always be grateful.
Visitation will be held at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home 2666 Windsor St. Wednesday November 20th 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Service will be held Thursday November 21st at St. Margarets of Scotland, 3751 Robie Street at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
