On December 20, 2023 at 2:07PM, Theresia Jaeger (born Meyer) passed away peacefully in her room at Whitehills Long Term Care facility located in Hammond Plains, Nova Scotia. She was 90 years old. Her daughter Evelyn and son-in-law Gary were at her side.
Theresia was the loving mother of her two daughters, Angelika Hoenig (Karl Hoenig) and Evelyn Perks (Gary Perks). She was also a loving grandmother to Michael (Leanne Hunter), Stephen (Sherman Hung), Daniel (Nicole Wright) and Kaitlin and a great-grandmother to James, Ethan, Thomas, Stephen and Sophia. Theresia was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Nikolaus Jaeger.
Theresia, born in Romania, came to Canada in 1951 and settled in Montreal Quebec to marry her beloved Nikolaus, who also was from Romania. The Jaeger family later moved to Longueuil, Quebec where they lived until Nikolaus passed away in 2006. Theresia eventually moved to Bedford, Nova Scotia to live with her daughter Evelyn and son-in-law Gary in their family home.
Affectionately called Schnookie by her husband, she also was generally known by her family and relatives as Resi, a nick name given to her by her husband. This eventually became Racy Resi, given her love of driving.
Theresia loved cooking for her family making their favorite Romanian/German meals and desserts, along with many recipes of her own creation. Some of Theresia’s favorite past times and hobbies were reading, sewing and knitting and listening to her favorite music. However, topping all of these activities was her love of gardening and tending her flower beds, both at the city home as well as at the family cottage in the Laurentians where she loved spending most of her summer leisure time.
Theresia “Resi” (Oma to those close to her) will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the care giving staff at Whitehills LTC. Theresia was not a resident at this facility for very long, but she managed to endear herself to many of the staff and residents. For this, we appreciate all the hard work and caring which nursing home staff perform on a daily basis to care for our senior loved ones.
Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation on Theresia’s behalf can do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A private memorial celebration of Theresia’s Life will be held at a future date, in Quebec.
Theresia – rest in peace now with your beloved husband “Klaus”.
