Age 93 of Hatchet Lake, passed away peacefully March 24, 2020 at the QEII. Born in Colindale, Inverness Co., on July 15, 1926 to Angus & Mary Ann (MacIsaac) McPhee.
Theresa “Mama” was predeceased by her husband Fred Weymouth, 7 sisters & brothers. Mama is survived by her sister, Sr. Catherine MacPhee, her daughter Floanne Weymouth, son Robert (Erika) Weymouth. Grandchildren Jennifer (Loren) Paul, Joshua (Ashlea) Webster, Kaela Webster, Caelum & Baileigh Weymouth, step-grandchildren Victoria & Hillary Waters. Great-grandchildren Payton Paul & Justin Webster, step-great-grandchildren Hailee Deal, Cali Waters, & Austin Angeine.
When Theresa moved to Halifax, she began working for Robert Simpsons (Sears), a few years later worked for Maritime Tel & Tel. In much later years she worked for Dalhousie University, after raising her family.
Theresa devoted years volunteering for St. Christopher’s Church, Hatchet Lake. She assisted in many events such as fundraisers and took care of alter linens. She enjoyed being active up until the very end. She loved being part of a senior bowling team, dancing, tending her gardens and power-walking the Prospect Rd. She always looked forward to attending her weekly YMCA exercise classes, which she participated in for over 25 years. Knitting was another favorite pastime; she was often knitting blankets for those in need.
Due to the pandemic a mass at St. Joseph’s Church will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Theresa to the stroke & cancer society would be greatly appreciated.
